TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Softball Team struggled late in both games Friday, falling to USU Eastern 10-6 and 7-5 in the final Scenic West Athletic Conference regular season weekend.
The Golden Eagles tied game one up at six apiece on a grand slam by
Payton Hammond in the fifth but gave the lead back up in the top of the sixth and never recovered.
Sophia Stoddard and
Caitlin Turner were each 2-for-3 at the plate for the Golden Eagles.
Kenzie Waters pitched 2.2 innings, giving up no earned runs on six hits.
CSI took control early in game two with the 5-0 lead but couldn't hold on, giving up seven runs late.
Gracie Walters threw well enough to get the win, going 6.2 innings and giving up just three earned runs with two strikeouts.
Turner was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI and Stoddard was 1-for-2 with a home run and two walks.
Brynne Tolley was 1-for-3 with a double.
CSI, 31-23 overall and 22-16 in conference play, hosts USU Eastern Saturday at noon. Sophomores will be honored between games.
