HENDERSON, Nev. - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball Team scored three runs in the fourth inning and never trailed, beating the second-seeded College of Southern Nevada 5-4 Thursday in its opening round of the Region 18 Tournament.
With the win, the Golden Eagles advance to play Salt Lake CC Friday at noon PST. The winner earns a spot in the Region 18 Championship on Saturday. The loser drops down to take on the winner of Southern Nevada and USU Eastern for a chance to get back to the title game.
Tate Gambill keyed the CSI scoring in the fourth inning by leading off with a single. Crew Robinson and Andrew Gregersen walked to load the bases before Zack Petersen plated Gambill on a fielder's choice out. Robinson then scored on a wild pitch for the second run and the Golden Eagles final run of the inning came on a Magnum Hofstetter RBI single.
The Golden Eagles gave up two in the bottom of the fourth but bounced back with two of their own in the top of the fifth.
Gambill walked and Robinson doubled before Gregersen hit a two RBI single for CSI's final runs of the game.
