HENDERSON, Nev. - The College of Southern Idaho Softball Team struggled to find any offense early and ran out of time late, falling to Southern Nevada 7-3 in the opening round of the Region 18 Tournament.
With the CSI pitchers doing their job the Golden Eagles stayed close at 3-1 through four innings. But some defensive miscues and a few hits by Southern Nevada put three more runs on the board in the fifth for the Coyotes and that's all they would need.
The Golden Eagles rallied late in the bottom of the seventh scoring two runs and had two on with two outs but Southern Nevada got the strikeout to end the game and the rally was over.
Caitlin Turner finished 1-for-2 with a home run and a walk. Sophia Stoddard was 1-for-2 with a walk and Brynne Tolley was 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Gracie Walters threw 3 innings, giving up just one earned run on three hits with two strikeouts and Siera Horton threw 2.2 innings, giving up no earned runs on one hit with one strikeouts.
CSI faces Snow College at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in a loser-out game. The winner will advance to the third-place game at 4 p.m.
Salt Lake and Southern Nevada will face off in the morning in the undefeated game.
