RICHFIELD, Utah - The 10th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball Team never trailed Saturday, beating 13th-ranked Salt Lake CC 94-84 in the Region 18 Championship and advancing to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in two weeks.
Not only did CSI stay in first place from day one to the last day of regular season play, but the Golden Eagles led from start to finish in the championship game as well.
Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was Region 18 Player of the Year
Deng Dut. The sophomore guard finished with 31 points, six assists and five rebounds.
CSI led by as much as 22 points five minutes into the second half and was able to coast to the finish.Â
KT Raimey scored 23 points and
Madit Lueeth had 10.Â
The Golden Eagles shot 48 percent from long range, knocking down 12-of-25 and made 73 percent of their free throws.
Dut earned Region 18 Tournament MVP honors and both Raimey and Lueeth were named to the all-tournament team.
CSI, 21-3 overall, will await its seeding for the national tournament in Hutchinson, Kan., April 19-24.Â
