TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Softball Team made quick work of Colorado Northwestern Friday, run ruling the Spartans 20-0 and 18-2 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
Golden Eagle
Gracie Walters gave up a hit to the first hitter and was nearly perfect the rest of the way. Late in the game, she gave up a walk but that was the only other baserunner for Colorado. Walters ended up with eight strikeouts.
CSI combined for 17 hits offensively.
Payton Hammond was 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Carley Croshaw was 2-for-3 with four RBI.
Maya Williams was 2-for-2,
Siera Horton was 1-for-1 and
Maizie Clark was 2-for-2 with three RBI.
Camryn Willier came in to pinch-hit a solo home run for the Golden Eagles.
Game two started slow but a 11-run fourth inning helped CSI pull away.
Hammond had another big game, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a grand slam and seven RBI.
Brynne Tolley was 2-for-3 with a triple and
Maggie Whipple was 2-for-2 with a triple.
Jessica Touchard got it done at the plate and in the circle for the Golden Eagles. The freshman was 2-for-3 at the plate and earned the win pitching. She gave up one earned run on six hits with five strikeouts.
CSI, 18-12 overall and 9-5 in conference play, hosts CNCC Saturday at noon for another doubleheader.
