Mixed bag for softball in opening day of series

TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The 20th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Softball Team was dominant in game one of a doubleheader with Snow, winning 7-0 but then struggled to do anything right in game two, falling 20-6 Friday.
Golden Eagle Gracie Walters threw a gem in the first game, giving up no runs on four hits with 10 strikeouts. At the plate Payton Hammond was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, Sophia Stoddard was 2-for-2 with two walks and Caitlin Turner was 2-for-4. Both Carley Croshaw and Cortney Rhees hit home runs as well.
But as good as CSI was in game one, they were as bad in game two. The Golden Eagles managed just four hits and defensively had five errors.
Stoddard was 1-for-3 with two RBI, Jessica Touchard was 1-for-2 with one RBI and Cortney Rhees was 1-for-3 with one RBI.
CSI, now 14-12 overall, hosts Snow again Saturday for a doubleheader at noon.
