TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The 12th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball Team held a nine-point lead with five minutes to go in the game but watched it disappear, falling to #11 Salt Lake CC 70-68 Thursday in a Scenic West Athletic Conference matchup.
The biggest difference came in the paint where the Bruins scored 34 of their points compared to 16 for the Golden Eagles. CSI won the battle from long range, hitting 13 3-pointers for the game, while Salt lake hit just six.
Deng Dut led the Golden Eagles with 19 points. He added five assists and five rebounds. CSI's next two leading scorers came off the bench to spark the Golden Eagles.
Maurice Barnett finished with nine points and
Chayce Polynice had eight. Polynice was also the Golden Eagles second-leading rebounder with six.
Daylen Williams led CSI on the boards with nine.
CSI, now 11-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play, drops into a tie for first-place with Salt Lake, who is 12-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play. Each team's loss in the SWAC was to each other.
The Golden Eagles host Snow College Saturday at 3 p.m.
