TWIN FALLS, Idaho - With half of their team playing at home against USU Eastern and half in Henderson, Nev. taking on CSN and SLCC, the Golden Eagles earned a split Saturday with USUE at home, losing in the opener 4-0 and winning the nightcap 5-2.
In the opener, USU Eastern's Kody Nelson shut down CSI. Only three Golden Eagles got hits.
Carson Schow and
Briggs Newman were each 2-for-3 with two doubles and
Braxton Mills was 1-for-3. On the mound, the two CSI pitchers gave up just one earned run.
Logan Bleazard went 5.0 innings, giving up one earned run on four hits with four stirkeouts.
Tanner Clayton pitched the final two innings, giving up no earned runs on one hit with one strikeout.
In game two, The Golden Eagles trailed going into the fifth 1-0, but a three-run fifth and two-run sixth was plenty to secure the win.
Charlie Tentinger was 2-for-3 with a double and
Chase Higginson was 1-3 with a triple and two RBI.
Colton Carpenter earned the win, going three innings and giving up one earned run on one hit with two strikeouts.
Andrew Zmuda, who started the game, gave up no runs on one hit with four strikeouts.
The CSI squad in Twin Falls, finished the weekend 2-2.
