TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The 22nd-ranked College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball Team stayed right with 12th-ranked Casper College through three quarters but couldn't sustain, falling to the Thunderbirds 83-67 Friday in the Wright Physical Therapy/Hilex Poly Invitational.
CSI trailed by just four points through three quarters but Casper got hot in the fourth, knocking down 58 percent of its shots from the field and 63 percent from long range.
The biggest difference in the game came on the boards. The Thunderbirds had 26 offensive rebounds that led to 21 more total shot attempts. Overall Casper out-rebounded CSI 54 to 26.
The Golden Eagles had three players finish in double-digit scoring.
Macie Knapp and
Courtney Stothard each had 16 points and
Karmelah Dean added 13. Knapp added four rebounds and Stothard had six rebounds. Dean finished with four assists. Sophomore
Kyra Paniora had a solid first half until an injury sidelined her in the second half. She posted six points, three assists and two steals with no turnovers.
CSI will take on the Idaho Legends Saturday at 5:30 p.m.Â
Earlier Friday, Snow defeated the Idaho Legends 87-62.
