TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho played from behind all day Friday but fought back late to take both games from the College of Southern Nevada 11-10 and 11-6 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
After trailing 9-5, the Golden Eagles tied game one in the bottom of the sixth only to see CSN home in the top of the seventh to take the 10-9 lead. But
Carley Croshaw had other plans as the sophomore crushed a ball over the road to tie the game leading off in the bottom of the seventh.
Emma Wilson followed with a double before CSI had a pop out and then ground out, bringing leadoff
Miranda Page to the plate. The freshman punched a single through to score Wilson for the walk off win.
Also collecting home runs in the game were
Kylie Baumert and
Kalena Shepherd. Shepherd finished 2-for-4 with a home run, double and five RBI and Baumert finished 2-for-3 with a double, home run, walk and three RBI.
Siera Horton earned the win in the circle, going 4.2 innings and giving up five earned runs on five hits with no walks and three strikeouts.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in game two but Southern Nevada answered with three in the third. Then the two teams traded leads into the bottom of the fifth when CSI put together two solid innings and pulled away.
Shepherd was on fire in the game, finishing with three home runs and five RBI. Baumert was 3-for-4 with two RBI and Croshaw was 2-for-3 with a home run.
Nikki Zielinski had a double and a triple, going 2-for-4,
Maya Williams was 2-for-3 with a triple and
Kaeley Loader was 1-for-2 with an rbi double. Page finished 2-for-4.
Mailee Jensen earned the win, pitching the final 2.2 innings and giving up no runs on two hits.
On the day, CSI hit seven home runs.
The Golden Eagles, 2-0 in conference play, host Southern Nevada for another doubleheader Saturday at noon.
