SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Softball Team put up a fight against sixth-ranked Salt Lake CC in the Region 18 Championship, holding a lead into the bottom of the fourth but ultimately fell to the Bruins 7-3.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a fast start. Kylie Baumert led off the game with a hit, followed by a single by Tristin Evans and a double by Kalena Shepherd. CSI ended the inning with two runs and added one in the third when Hannah Peterson walked, stole second and scored on a Shepherd single.
But that would be all the hits CSI could muster in the game and Salt Lake added three in the fourth, two in the fifth and two in the sixth for the win.
Three Golden Eagle players earned a spot on the all-tournament team - Evans, Peterson and Baumert.
CSI finishes its season 38-22 overall with a second-place Scenic West Athletic Conference placing and a runner-up Region 18 finish.
