TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball team swept Utah State Club Team Saturday 5-2 and 10-0 to win the four-game series in non-conference play.
It was only fitting the Golden Eagles would get two wins on the day the fans, parents and players celebrated the contributions of a sophomore class that was a part of a team that took third place at the JUCO World Series last season.
Game one was a little bit tougher of a win as the two teams were tied heading into the bottom of the fourth. But CSI scored the go-ahead run in the fourth when
Tyler Curtis, who took first on an error, scored after singles by
Ryan Nolan and
Camden Snarr.Â
CSI added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth for the final tally.
Colton Kent finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate, Nolan was 2-for-2 and Snarr was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI.
Colton Carpenter earned the win, going 5 innings and giving up two earned runs on five hits with six strikeouts.
Matt Hansen got the save, pitching the final two innings and giving up no runs on no hits with four strikeouts.
Game two was all CSI. The Golden Eagles only tallied six hits but drew free bases on six walks and five hit by pitches. CSI pitchers
Connor Breding,
Brendan Boily and
Cannon Secrist combined to throw a no hitter with 13 strikeouts in six innings. Breding posted six of the strikeouts in the win.
At the plate,
Jordan Sadovia was 2-for-3 with three RBI and
Ryke Erickson was 2-for-3 with two RBI.Â
CSI, now 27-19 overall and 10-13 in conference play, travels to Colorado Northwestern Friday and Saturday.
