CSI Baseball splits with USUE on Saturday

TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball Team rallied late to beat USU Eastern 4-3 Saturday but fell in the nightcap 4-1 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Golden Eagles trailed 3-2 heading into the bottom half of the fifth inning, but first baseman Nolan Walker came up big. David Hudleson walked and Walker drove a deep shot over the left center wall to give CSI the 4-3 lead and eventually the win. Earlier in the game, Justin Kohler also hit a home run for the Golden Eagles. Walker ended the game 2-for-3 with two RBI.
On the mound, Colton Carpenter pitched 4.2 innings, giving up three earned runs on seven hits. Boily earned the win, going 1.1 innings and giving up no runs on no hits. Tyler Curtis shut the door in the final inning for the save.
In game two, CSI held the 1-0 lead into the top of the eighth. But a big four-run inning put USUE in the lead for good.
Connor Breding was solid on the mound. The sophomore pitched the first 5.2 innings, giving up just one hit with five strikeouts in the no decision.
At the plate Hayden Leatham was 3-for-3. Jordan Scott finished 1-for-3.
CSI, now 19-15 overall and 6-9 in SWAC play, hosts Southern Nevada Friday and Saturday.
