HENDERSON, Nev. - The College of Southern Idaho battled for two straight games against College of Southern Nevada but came up just short 12-9 and 2-1 Friday in a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader.
The Golden Eagle bats were hot in game one as they finished with 11 hits.
Hayden Leatham was 3-for-5 with two RBI and a double.
Ryke Erickson finished 2-for-3 with a walk and
Jackson Kohler was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a walk. CSI out-hit the Coyotes but Southern Nevada was able to win off two big innings. CSN scored six runs in the third and then when CSI pulled within one at 9-8, CSN knocked in three more runs to put the game out of reach.
Game two was a pitching duel.
Cannon Secrist pitched a gem in the loss. He gave up just three hits with five strikeouts. But the two runs he gave up proved to be all Southern Nevada would need for the win as CSI was only able to plate one.
David Hudelson led the Golden Eagle offense, going 1-for-4 with a triple and scoring the lone CSI run.
Abe Yagi and
Jordan Sadovia both finished 1-for-3.
Jason Hibbard was solid in relief for CSI. He pitched 1.2 innings, giving up no runs on two hits.
The Golden Eagles, now 7-7 overall and 0-2 in SWAC play, will play CSN against Saturday in a doubleheader.
