YUMA, Ariz. - The 7th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Softball team battled all weekend but ended up posting a 2-5 record at the Arizona Western College Tournament.
The Golden Eagles beat Phoenix College 3-1 and Glendale 19-2 but lost to Eastern Arizona 5-4, Central Arizona 10-7, Chandler-Gilbert 4-2, Arizona Western 7-0 and Yavapai College 9-8.
CSI outhit most all of their opponents but committed 19 errors on defense over the seven games. The Golden Eagles posted a .327 batting average compared to .276 for their opponents and pitchers finished with a 3.86 ERA compared to 4.11 for their opponents.Â
Individually,
Kamryn Grover led CSI in the circle going 1-1 with 15 innings pitched. She gave up 16 hits and only five earned runs with nine strikeouts for a 2.33 ERA. Freshman
Mailee Jensen also had a solid weekend in her three appearances. She pitched 16.2 innings, giving up eight earned runs with eight strikeouts for a 3.36 ERA.
At the plate,
Kylie Baumert led the Golden Eagles. The freshman hit .500 with three doubles, one home run and three RBI. Sophomore
Hannah Peterson also had a great weekend, hitting .462 with one double, one RBI and five stolen bases. Baumert and Peterson anchored the outfield with no errors in the seven games.
Sherry Boone finished with a .417 batting average with one double and one RBI,
Carley Croshaw hit .333 with two RBI and
Tristin Evans hit .320 with two doubles and eight RBI.
The Golden Eagles, 5-7 overall, next play College of Idaho on the road Feb. 16th.
