EPHRAIM, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Volleyball Team beat Southern Nevada 25-19, 25-16, 25-22 before falling to USU Eastern 25-22, 22-25, 21-25, 25-19, 15-7 in the semifinal of the Region 18 Tournament Friday, ending the Golden Eagles season.
CSI battled to a 2-1 set lead against USU Eastern and held a 15-12 lead in the fourth set before giving up six straight points. The Golden Eagles never recovered and never led again in the match.
Freshman
Taylor Burnham led CSI with 18 kills.
Payton Spoja added 13 kills and 17 digs.
Alexis Mareko finished with a match-high eight blocks and added six kills. Setter
Sean Garvin had 32 assists and 17 digs. Defensively,
Kylie Baumert posted a match-high 32 digs.
The Golden Eagles led in almost every category but couldn't overcome 35 hitting errors.
Against College of Southern Nevada earlier on Friday,
Alyssa Curtis led CSI offensively with 13 kills. She added three blocks. Mareko again led the Golden Eagles in blocking with four along with five kills. Baumert had a match-high 20 digs in the win. Spoja added 15.
CSI finishes the season 17-13 overall.Â
