ST. GEORGE, Utah - The fifth-seeded College of Southern Idaho run ruled 12th-seeded Three Rivers 8-0 Wednesday to open the NJCAA National Tournament with a win.
Golden Eagles sophomore pitcher
Stefani Zimmerman threw a one-hit shutout so she didn't need much run support but CSI provided it anyway for its ace.
Mikelle Magalogo broke the scoreless tie in the second inning when she ripped a home run down the left-field line.
Then the Golden Eagles added three in the third, one in fourth and three in the fifth to end it.
Anjalee Batchelor finished the game 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI.
Siearrah Anderson added a home run and
Nicole Renner was 2-for-3.
CSI will take on fourth-seeded Butler at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Butler defeated 13th-seeded Walters State 9-1 in five innings.
