HUTCHINSON, Kansas - Sophomore Tommy Burton led the 10th-seeded Golden Eagles Basketball to a big win over 7th-seeded Odessa 103-95 to advance to the quarterfinals of the NJCAA National Tournament.
Burton finished the game with 29 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Teammate Charles Jones Jr. added 24 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
CSI clung to just a two-point lead with a minute to go but Danya Kingsby came up clutch at the free-throw line. The sophomore guard finished 6-for-6 from the line. He posted 15 points for the game.
Odessa is coached by former CSI Golden Eagle Men's Basketball player Tra Arnold.
CSI will play Northwest Florida State College at 1 p.m. MST Thursday.
