TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball team hung with Salt Lake CC for the first half despite shooting just 22 percent from the field but stayed cold in the second half as the Bruins pulled away, winning 68-58 Thursday in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Golden Eagles defense forced 12 first-half turnovers to stay within striking distance. But the Bruins came out of the locker room at the half on fire, taking the 47-35 lead after three quarters and extending it to 21 points with 2:21 to go in the game. CSI didn't go away quietly closing to 10 points at the buzzer.
CSI shot just 28 percent from the field and 23 percent from long distance. Salt Lake shot 55 percent from the field and 30 percent from the 3-point line.
Tiena Afu finished the game with 10 points, 12 rebounds and three assists, while
Chesney Campbell was the Golden Eagles leading scorer with 14 points. She added seven rebounds and two steals.
CSI, now 19-6 overall and 4-3 in conference play, travels to USU Eastern Saturday.
