TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The 14th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball team held off a tenacious Georgia Highlands team Saturday in the Coca-Cola Invitational, winning 85-73 to improve to 7-3 overall.
Georgia Highlands matched the Golden Eagles on the stat sheet in most categories except 3-point shooting and free-throw shooting and that proved the difference.
CSI went 11-25 (44 percent) from long range and 20-29 (69 percent) from the free-throw line. Georgia Highlands was 3-13 (23 percent) from the 3-point line and 10-19 (53 percent) from the free-throw line.
Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was
Denajha Kie with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Allie Thayne added nine points and 10 rebounds.
Nicole Hein Suarez scored 16 points for CSI along with four steals and three rebounds.
Mallory Lapoole added 12 points.
Kaela McClure was solid all night running the point. She finished with six points and nine assists with just two turnovers.
CSI travels to Salt Lake next weekend to play Western Wyoming and Utah Premier.
