TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The fourth-ranked College of Southern Idaho Volleyball team swept eighth-ranked Snow College 25-16, 25-15, 25-20 Saturday to win the Region 18 Championship.
The Golden Eagles put together on of their most complete matches all season to earn a berth in the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan., Nov. 15-17.
Airi Miyabe led the CSI attack with 14 kills. She added seven digs.
Jovana Vukcevic was the only other Golden Eagle in double figures, posting 11 kills along with two blocks. In a balanced attack across the board,
Payton Spoja had seven kills,
E'laisah Young finished with five and
Alexis Mareko had four.Â
The Golden Eagles out-blocked the top blocking team in the conference. Leading the way was five from Mareko and four apiece from Miyabe and Young. Setter
Brianna Barta added three along with 17 assists.
CSI libero
Kylie Baumert led all players with 21 digs and posted aces.
Makayla Bradford finished with 12 digs and
Sacha Legros had six digs and two aces.
Helping run the offense,
Sean Garvin had 20 assists and five digs.
The Golden Eagles, now 27-2 overall, will wait to find out their seeding after all the districts finish up their tournaments.
Vukcevic earned Region 18 Tournament MVP honors for her play in the two days. Other Golden Eagles making the team included Miyabe, Baumert and Spoja.
Those four were joined on the all-tournament team with Snow's Stacey Hone and Sai Collins.
