SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball led for only 34 seconds on Thursday against #7 Salt Lake CC but it was the most important 34 seconds as the Golden Eagles beat the Bruins 50-47 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.

Tiena Afu knocked down a field goal with 34 second to play to take the first lead of 48-47. After Salt Lake missed two chances to regain the lead, CSI freshman
Kaela McClure calmly made two free throws with 12 seconds on the clock to give the Golden Eagles the final margin as Bruin sophomore Tia Hay's 3-point attempt at the buzzer missed.
Afu was the only CSI player in double-figure scoring with 11 points. She added six rebounds.
Meghan Hughes added eight points and seven rebounds, while McClure finished with eight points.
The Golden Eagles out-rebounded the Bruins but more importantly out-shot the Bruins. CSI finished the game shooting almost 40 percent from the field compared to 32 percent for Salt Lake. The Golden Eagles also showed poise at the free-throw line, making 70 percent. The Bruins shot 42 percent from the free-throw line.
CSI, now 16-4 overall and 1-1 in league play, travels to Colorado Northwestern Saturday.
