TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat the College of Southern Nevada 4-2 Saturday, earning the three seed in next week's Region 18 Tournament.
Saturday's second game was canceled due to inclement weather.
The Golden Eagles trailed 2-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning when they were able to put together a rally that gave them 2-of-3 wins against the league leading Coyotes for the weekend.
Colin Gordon led off the inning with a walk. After a ground out, CSI's
Justin Mannens tripled to right center to pull the Golden Eagles within 2-1. After another ground out and a
Jordan Freese walk,
Daniel Nist launched his fifth home run of the year over the fence to put CSI up to stay at 4-2.
The Golden Eagles finished with just two other hits - Gordon and
Travis Bohall each tallied a hit.
In the circle,
Colton Westfall went 5.2 innings, giving up six hits and two runs with five strikeouts.
Mason Foltz earned the win, going .2 innings and giving up no hits and no runs.
CSI, now 20-25 overall and 13-18 in conference play, will open the tournament Thursday at 7 p.m. against Salt Lake CC in Henderson, Nev.
