PRICE, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball Team lost two extra inning games and a regulation one-run game on Saturday to finish the series with USU Eastern 1-3.
The Golden Eagles began their Saturday finishing up their second Friday game that was called because of darkness. CSI fell to the Eagles of Price 17-15 in 11 innings. The Golden Eagles followed that game with another 11-inning offensive battle, losing 12-11. In the final game of the day, CSI came up one run short in a 3-2 loss.
In the first game Saturday, Trevlor Lippard hit for the cycle, going 4-6 with four RBI.
Brett Resch also was on fire, going 4-6 with a double, a home run and three RBI.
The Golden Eagles continued their solid hitting in the second game.
Daniel Nist finished 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Resch was solid again, going 3-for-6 with three RBI, while
Jordan Freese was 1-for-3 with a home run.
CSI went through 13 pitchers in the two extra inning games.
Game three had a different feel as it became a pitchers duel.
Alec West-Guillen pitched 5.1 innings for the Golden Eagles, giving up just one hit with nine strikeouts. He had five walks and gave up three earned runs.
Offensively, Collin Gordan went 2-for-3 and
Travis Bohall was 2-for-3 with one RBI.
The Golden Eagles out-hit USU Eastern in every game of the series.
CSI, now 18-24 overall and 11-17 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play, hosts league-leading Southern Nevada Friday and Saturday for the final regular season games of the season.
