TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball lost game one 6-5 in extra innings and game two 8-6 Saturday in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Golden Eagles took the 4-2 into the top of the 7th in the opener.
Colton Westfall had pitched a solid first six innings, giving up six hits and two earned runs with eight strikeouts.
Tyler Rosas entered the game in the bottom of the seventh, giving up three runs on a walk, an error and a two run home run, putting the Spartans on top 5-4. The Golden Eagles answered with a
Shawn Grandmont solo home run to send the game into extra innings.
Neither team scored in the eighth. But CNCC scored in the top of the ninth on a lead-off double followed by a single to center.
That would be all the Spartans would need as they held CSI scoreless in the bottom half for the win.
Travis Bohall finished the game 3-for-5 with one RBI and Grandmont also was 3-for-5 but with two RBI.
Game two saw a few lead changes. CNCC took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second before CSI answered with one in the second and three in the third to go ahead 4-3. CNCC added four in the fifth and one in the seventh to head into the bottom of the seventh up 8-4. The Golden Eagles put together a small rally, scoring two runs but it wasn't enough.
With two outs,
Nick Dolce singled followed by a
Daniel Nist and
Jordan Freese single. Bohall hit a two-rbi single but that would be it as
Colin Gordon popped out to third to end the game.
CSI, now 15-19 overall and 8-12 in SWAC play, travels to USU Eastern Friday and Saturday.
