HUTCHINSON, Kansas - The College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball team trailed by as much as 14 points in the second half and cut it to two points but could get no closer, falling to Northern Oklahoma Enid 95-90 in the opening round of the NJCAA National Tournament.
The loss ends the Golden Eagles season at 27-7 overall.
CSI looked strong early in the game and poised to make some noise as it jumped out to a 10 point lead five minutes into the game. But Northern Oklahoma fought back behind the shooting of Ty Lazenby who finished the game with 40 points.
When the Golden Eagles began to rally, Northern Oklahoma held them off by knocking down 19-of-20 free throws for the game.
CSI shot 49 percent from the field compared to 47 percent for Northern Oklahoma. But the Jets shot 44 percent from beyond the arc compared to 31 percent for the Golden Eagles. The Jets also out-rebounded CSI 40-33.
Charles Jones Jr. led CSI's offensive attack with 19 points.
Casdon Jardine added 14 points and nine rebounds, while
Deishuan Booker finished with 12 points and 14 assists.
The Golden Eagles end the 2016-2017 season with a Region Championship and a District Championship.
