SALT LAKE CITY - For the College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball the fourth time was the charm as the Eagles upset the Bruins 65-58 Thursday in a Scenic West Athletic Conference matchup.
In the teams three previous meetings, Salt Lake had CSI's number. But the win couldn't come at a better time as the Golden Eagles have one more regular season game before the Region 18 Tournament and they want to enter the tournament hot.
One of the biggest reasons CSI got the win was that the Eagles took care of the basketball. The Golden Eagles committed just 13 turnovers but forced 22. And CSI allowed the league's leading scorer Tia Hay to score 21 points but shut down everyone else. No other Bruin scored in double figures.
The Golden Eagles also out-rebounded Salt Lake and made their free throws. CSI finished the game 26-of-32 (81.3 percent), while Salt Lake was 9-of-13 (69.2 percent).
Brianna Osorio led CSI with 15 points. She added four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Tiena Afu finished with 12 points and seven rebounds while
Tori Anderson added 12 points. Other notable players included
Ariel Augustine with 8 points and six rebounds and
Meghan Hughes with six points and six rebounds.
