TWIN FALLS - Salt Lake CC had no answer for CSI's
Jake Hendricks in the first half Saturday. And then after allowing him virtually no touches on the ball for most of the second half, Salt Lake watched him score seven of the Golden Eagles final points to lead CSI to a 94-89 win.
Hendricks knocked down 5-of-7 3-pointers in the first half in addition to three free throws for 18 points.
When the teams came out of the locker room, Salt Lake made sure he wouldn't hurt them early. The guard was able to only get two shots off all second half until the big turning point with 1:39 to go in the game.
Salt Lake held an 88-85 lead and the momentum when the Bruins were called for an offensive foul. Dalven Brushier was subsequently called for a technical foul, putting Hendricks to the line. He sank both. Then he hit his first 3-pointer of the second half on the next possession to give CSI the two-point lead. After Salt Lake's Cooper Holt made one free throw,
Danya Kingsby put CSI up by three on a baseline jumper.
Hendricks put the nail in the coffin with 13 seconds to play, making two more free throws.
He finished the game with 27 points and five rebounds. Kingsby added 22 points, five assists and four rebounds and
Charles Jones Jr. added 17 points.
CSI hosts Snow College Thursday and Colorado Northwestern on Saturday.
