TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho Men played with just a little bit more intensity and an even more unified effort Tuesday in beating #20 Salt Lake 84-74.
It started with former Twin Falls Bruin
Casdon Jardine. After leaving the game in the first half to have his lip stitched up, he came back to lead the Eagles with 19 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots. His relentless play rubbed off on his team.
The Golden Eagles out-rebounded Salt Lake 44-38 and forced the Bruins into 14 turnovers compared to eight for CSI.
Although his stats didn't reflect his contribution, big man
Roche Grootfaam shut down the Bruins center TJ Oliver. Oliver managed just nine points total but only two field goals on 2-of-9 shooting. Grootfaam's defense was the main reason. The Freshman finished the game with four points, three rebounds and two blocked shots as well.
Other CSI players in double figures included
Danya Kingsby (16),
Deishuan Booker (16) and
Josiah Barsh (16). Kingsby added four assists and seven steals and Booker had five assists and three steals.
Mubarak Muhammed came off the bench to post six rebounds.
The Golden Eagles, now 17-4 overall and 4-3 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play, travel to USU Eastern Saturday.
