TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball team put together great pitching performances and timely hits to beat USU Eastern 5-1 and 2-1 Friday in a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader.
Cole Walters got the big rbi walk-off single in game two in the bottom of the 9th to give the Eagles the win.
Braydon Torres-Moore led off the inning with a walk. After a
Joey Rossi fielder's choice that ended with Torres-Moore getting out at second, Walters drove the winning hit to right field to score Rossi.
Rossi finished the game 3-for-5 at the plate.
Quentin Marcelin was 2-for-2.
Alec Perron, Parker Loutsensock and
Bailey Daugio combined to pitch a gem. In total, they gave up just five hits, one earned run with 10 strikeouts. Daugio earned the win.
In game two, CSI finished with just six hits but that's all Golden Eagle pitcher
Tyler Rosas needed. The freshman went the distance, giving up just four hits and one earned run with six strikeouts.
At the plate,Â
Blake Sanchez was the only CSI player with multiple hits, going 2-for-3 with one rbi.
The Golden Eagles improve to 24-23 overall and 11-21 in league play. With the wins Friday, CSI moves above USU Eastern in the standings into fifth.
