LUBBOCK, Texas - The College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball team finished an amazing run and season Friday with a 63-56 loss to New Mexico Junior College in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA National Tournament.
The fifth-seeded Golden Eagles trailed early in the game to fourth-seeded NMJC but their second-half rally fell short.
"When the season's over you just think about all the good moments you've had" CSI Head Coach
Randy Rogers said. "I know it's tough on these kids right now and basketball's a long season. They competed and I think today, some of the things we did yesterday, and that's making shots, we didn't make early and sometimes you can get down on the other end of the floor and give up some easy buckets."
Both teams were evenly matched offensively but the Golden Eagles were out-rebounded 52-31.
Kandiss Barber led CSI with 19 points and eight rebounds.
Brianna Osorio added 13 points, five rebounds and three steals.
The Golden Eagles end their season with a Region 18 Championship, a 29-5 overall record and a fifth-place finish at the national tournament.
