TWIN FALLS - What a difference one week makes. The College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball team knocked down 17 3-pointers (50 percent) to defeat Salt Lake last Saturday. On Friday the Golden Eagles managed just 10 3-pointers, shooting only 37 percent and falling to the Bruins 82-60 in the semifinals of the Region 18 Tournament.
Still, CSI stayed close early, trailing by three at the half.
The two teams battled back and forth to start the second half with CSI's
EJ Boyce hitting his only 3-pointer of the game five minutes into the half and pulling the Golden Eagles within 46-45. That would be as close as CSI could get. Salt Lake went on a 22-2 run and the Golden Eagles never recovered.
CSI finished the game shooting 33 percent from the field and 58 percent from the free-throw line compared to 47 percent and 63 percent for Salt Lake. The Bruins out-rebounded CSI 48-35 and forced the Golden Eagles into five more turnovers.
Ar'Mond Davis led CSI with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
UC Iroegbu added 17, scoring 15 on a 5-of-8 from long range.
CSI, which finished second in the Scenic West Athletic Conference, ends its season with 22-9 overall record.
