TWIN FALLS - With seven seconds left to play, Golden Eagle
Brianna Osorio drove the length of the floor and passed off to
Kandiss Barber who drove into the key and knocked down a four-foot jumper with one second on the clock, lefting CSI past North Idaho 72-70 Saturday in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
It looked like North Idaho was going to be the team to jump ahead after Barber missed a shot with 17 seconds left and the game tied at 70. Jocelyn Cook-Cox rebounded and through down court to a wide open and unguarded Monica Landdeck. Landdeck missed the layup and
Samantha Lubcke rebounded the ball for the Golden Eagles, setting up winning jump shot.
Earlier this season, the two teams went to double overtime before CSI took the win. This time it went down to the wire.
Barber led the Eagles with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Samantha Lubcke added 13 points and eight assists. Osorio and
Matti Ventling each added 10 for CSI. Osorio also had seven assists and seven rebounds.
Ma Kenzie VanSickle finished the game with nine points and five assists for the Golden Eagles.
CSI, now 20-1 overall, host USU Eastern and Colorado Northwestern next week.
With the win, the Golden Eagles remain tied for first in the SWAC with fourth-ranked Salt Lake CC.
