SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The fifth-ranked College of Southern Idaho softball team used some timely hits by catcher
Abby Toller to beat Southern Nevada 10-8 Thursday and advance to the undefeated game on Friday at 2:30 p.m. against Salt Lake.
The Golden Eagles trailed early in the game before a grand slam by Toller put them up 7-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning. But the Coyotes weren't done, hitting a solo shot and a 3-run homer in the top of the sixth to regain the lead.
But CSI found a way once again to score some runs. With the bases loaded and two outs, Toller again came through with the big rbi hit to tie the game.
Brytni Gurney and
Savannah Kirkpatrick each followed with rbi singles to give CSI the final 10-8 tally they didn't give up.
Kami Merrill earned the the win in the circle. The sophomore came into the game with one out in the top of the sixth, giving up only a single hit the rest of the game.
Both
Kayla Carter and
Marissa Johnson hit home runs in the win.
