SALINA, Kansas - The College of Southern Idaho women's basketball team started their quarterfinal matchup against Chipola solid, taking a 9-5 lead. But watched their hopes of a semi-final appearance disappear as Chipola went on a 20-0 run and ended CSI's season with a 76-44 victory.
CSI finished the NJCAA National Tournament tied for fifth.
The Golden Eagles struggled to match Chipola's athleticism and size but fought to the end.
CSI committed 22 turnovers to Chipola's six and managed to get just 39 shot attempts off to Chipola's 70.
The Golden Eagles had no answer for Sueterrica Key, who scored 32 points and 6-3 Evelyn Akhator, who finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
CSI was led by
Samantha Lubcke's 10 points and seven rebounds. Danjha Kie added nine points and five rebounds and
Holly Blades finished with seven points, eight rebounds and three assists.
The Golden Eagles finish their season 22-12 overall.
