HUTCHINSON, Kansas - The third-seeded College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball team watched their bid for its fourth NJCAA National Championship melt away as the 19th-seeded Georgia Highlands hit a 3-point field goal with five seconds to play to take the 67-66 win over the Eagles Wednesday at the NJCAA National Tournament.
The Golden Eagles took the one-point lead with 21 seconds left to play on a
Tyson Smith field goal but watched that lead disappear 15 seconds later when Montrel Goldston knocked down the game-winner for Georgia Highlands.
CSI held a double-digit lead in the first half before GH went on a run right before the half and closed to within two points at the half. The Golden Eagles dominated on the boards 48-30 but that wasn't enough as CSI struggled taking care of the ball and committed 26 turnovers.
The Golden Eagles were led by
Abdoulaye Harouna's 16 points.
Fredrick Edmond added 15 points and eight rebounds.
Ray Kasongo finished with nine points, 10 rebounds and seven blocked shots.Â
