PRICE, Utah -
Holly Blades was held to just four points in the College of Southern Idaho women's basketball team Region 18 championship win over Salt Lake 60-57 Saturday. But half of those were two of the most important points of the game.
Clinging to a 58-57 lead with 22 seconds to play, Blades went to the line for a one-and-one attempt. The sophomore guard calmly sank both and gave the Golden Eagles the final point spread and helped CSI win the Region 18 Championship and knock off top-seeded and 6th-ranked Salt Lake CC.
Blades was named to the all-tournament team along with teammate
Samantha Lubcke, who earned Most Valuable Player honors.
Lubcke finished the game with 13 points.
Elisabet Lopez Sagrera added 12 points.
Blades two free throws were key but the Golden Eagles were clutch all night, knocking down 87 percent of their free throws. For the night, CSI was 14-of-16.
The Golden Eagles qualifed for the NJCAA National Tournament in Salina, Kan., March 16-21.
