PRICE, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho went on a late run to pull away from North Idaho College, beating the Cardinals 96-79 in the Region 18 Championship game Saturday.
With the win, the Golden Eagles secured a berth in the NJCAA National Tournament. CSI will still have to travel to Arizona March 7 for a district playoff that will determine seeding.
Abdoulaye Harouna stayed hot from beyond the arc. Friday, the freshman guard hit five 3-pointers. Saturday, he knocked down another six, finishing the game with 21 points and earning tournament MVP honors.
Fredrick Edmond, the Scenic West Athletic Conference Player of the Year, added 18 points and 18 rebounds and also garnered a spot on the all-tournament team.
Other players in double digits included
Ar'Mond Davis with 16 points,
Tyson Smith with 12 and
Shaq Carr with 11. Carr also had 10 assists for the double-double.
