TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball team had no answer for Arizona Western's hot shooting Saturday, falling to the Matadors 88-81 in the Wright Physical Therapy Invite.
In the first half, Arizona Western knocked down 10 three-point field goals out of 19 attempts. It seemed improbable the Matadors could keep it up. While Arizona Western did not hit as many 3-pointers in the second half, it continued to stay hot, shooting 53 percent from the field.
CSI struggled all night to put together a string of baskets. The Golden Eagles pulled within one point in the second half but Arizona Western countered with a big run and CSI could not recover.
The Golden Eagles shot just 38 percent from the field and 26 percent from beyond the arc for the game.
Geno Artison led the Eagles with 16 points and seven rebounds.
Marquis Godfrey added nine points and 10 rebounds.
Quincy Taylor,
Darryl Gaynor and
Ar'Mond Davis all had 13 points apiece.
CSI, now 7-2 overall, host the Fisher's Technology Invitational Thursday through Saturday.
