TWIN FALLS - The third-ranked College of Southern Idaho men's basketball team took advantage of a great first half to beat Salt Lake 79-70 Thursday in a Scenic West Athletic Conference matchup between the top two teams in the league.
The Golden Eagles took a 46-33 lead into the lockerroom at the half and seemed to be on cruise control until the Bruins were able to slow the second half down and pull within three points late in the game. CSI's
Tyson Smith and
Shaq Carr hit big free throws late to seal the win.
Fredrick Edmond scored his 1000 career point in the first half on a putback at the 7:54 mark.
Edmond ended the game with 20 points and 19 rebounds to lead the Eagles.
Smith finished with nine points, eight rebounds and five assists for CSI.
The Golden Eagles improved to 24-0 overall and 9-0 in the conference. With the loss, Salt Lake drops to 7-2 in league play.
CSI hosts Snow Saturday at 5 p.m.
