Golden Eagle Softball clinches SWAC title

EPHRAIM, Utah - The 3rd-ranked College of Southern Idaho softball team needed a little help after the Golden Eagles dropped their final game of their Snow series 3-2 Saturday. CSI beat the Badgers 11-6 and 9-1 Friday before downing Snow 18-7 in game one Saturday.
The three wins guaranteed at least a tie for the SWAC championship but Salt Lake split with Southern Nevada and North Idaho split with Western Nevada Saturday to give CSI the outright championship with two weekends remaining in the regular season schedule.
CSI travels to North Idaho next weekend and has a bye the final weekend heading into the Region 18 Tournament.
The Golden Eagles weren't as sharp as they've been at the plate, posting just 29 hits, including 5 home runs. But CSI was walked 41 times in the four games. Still, CSI left 44 runners on base and will look to turn that around next weekend.
Shea Ibrahim led the Eagles for the weekend, hitting .374 with two home runs and 7 RBI. In the circle, Brandi Hall finished with one win and one loss but was definitely a bright spot, giving up just one earned run in each game with eight total strikeouts.
CSI, 40-14 overall and 34-10 in SWAC play, won its second straight regular season title.
