TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho men's basketball team pulled within five points late in Saturday's SWAC game with Salt Lake but couldn't finish the comeback, falling to the Bruins 76-68.
The Golden Eagles trailed by as much as 21 points early in the second half, struggling to knock down shots. Even more critical was CSI's inability to earn rebounds, getting out-rebounded 46-30 on the night.
Montigo Alford led the Eages with 19 points and five assists.
The lost drops CSI to 26-3 overall and 12-2 in the conference. Salt Lake stands at 10-3 with two games to play. A win Saturday at North Idaho would give the Golden Eagles the outright title. A loss by CSI and two wins by Salt Lake would forge a conference tie but CSI would still be the top seed because it beat the Bruins twice during the regular season.
