Samantha Lubcke was fouled on a putback with eight seconds to play and hit her free throw to send the seventh-ranked College of Southern Idaho women's basketball team into overtime and eventually earn the 72-69 win over Sheridan Saturday on the final night of the Coca Cola Classic Tournament.
In overtime,
Holly Blades put the Eagles up 70-66 with 33 seconds to play on two free throws. CSI stretched the lead with 16 seconds left to 71-66 with a
Denajha Kie free throw. But Sheridan answered with a 3-pointer immediately, pulling the Generals within two.
Ma Kenzie VanSickle hit one of two free throws with eight seconds to play to give CSI it's final margin as Sheridan's 3-pointer at the buzzer fell short.
Lubcke finished the game with 15 points and 16 rebounds, while Kie added 18 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals. Blades added 16 points and five assists, knocking down four 3-pointers.
The Golden Eagles improve to 3-0 on the season.
In the earlier game, Salt Lake CC defeated Athleticz Allianz 76-57.
