TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho played 19 innings of solid softball to win three games with just one bad inning that cost them game 3 in the SWAC series with Snow College.
The Golden Eagles pounded out 22 hits Friday to take 5-1 and 17-2 wins.
Aubrey Whitmer finished 3-for-4 at the plate with one home run and 3 RBI, whilte sister Sierra Whitmer finished 2-for-3 with one home run and 2 RBI.
Patti Ferguson was 3-for-6 with 2 homers and 5 RBI on the day.
In all, the Golden Eagles finished with 6 home runs.
Fast forward to Saturday and the Golden Eagles gave up 8 unearned runs in the first inning of game one, losing 9-3 before gutting out a 2-1 victory in game two.
CSI's pitching was solid all day as the Golden Eagles gave up just one earned run. But the Golden Eagle bats weren't near as hot.
Whitney Littledike led the Eagles, going 2-for-3 with a double. Tyler Wilkinson was 3-6 with a double.
CSI improves to 41-9 overall and 35-5 in league play. The Golden Eagles are in first place by one game with four games remaining. CSI hosts North Idaho Friday and Saturday. If the Golden Eagles win 3 of 4 games, they will host the Region 18 Tournament in May.
Salt Lake stands in second place one game back. The Bruins have a bye week before traveling to Snow College the final week of the regular season.
