SALT LAKE CITY - The College of Southern Idaho baseball team lost to Salt Lake CC 9-1 in the undefeated game of the Region 18 Tournament Friday and then fell to Western Nevada 7-4 later Friday to finish third.
The Golden Eagles had knocked off WNC Thursday and a second win against them Friday would have put CSI into the region championship and a spot in the district playoff with a chance to go to the JUCO World Series but it wasn't to be.
CSI took a 4-2 lead into the fourth inning but would score no more runs and WNC tacked on two runs in the fourth, one in the sixth and two in the ninth to advance to the championship.
Ben Douglas finished the game 2-for-3 with one RBI to lead the Eagles.
CSI finishes the season 34-24 overall.
