RANGELY, Colo. - The 16th-ranked College of Southern Idaho not only swept Colorado Northwestern 17-0, 11-0, 13-0, 9-1 Friday and Saturday but did not give up an earned run in the Scenic West Athletic Conference series.
In a dominating performace, Jyl Eckstein, Nellie Makings and Jessi Duncan combined to give up just two hits in three games and Grace Combs gave up four hits.
Nikki Brailsford led the Eagles at the plate, going 11-for-15 with four doubles, one home run and 10 RBI.
CSI posted a .455 team batting average during the weekend compared to .086 for CNCC.
The Golden Eagles head into next week's showdown with No. 4 Salt Lake needing three wins to move into first place in the conference standings. CSI hosts the Bruins at 1 p.m. Friday and noon on Saturday.
