HUTCHINSON, Kansas - Sebastien Michineau hit two free throws with less than five seconds to play to tie the game and send the College of Southern Idaho men's basketball team into overtime and help the Golden Eagles beat Three Rivers 80-70 Thursday in the NJCAA National Tournament.
CSI trailed much of the game but key free throws by Michineau down the stretch and rebounding by Ralph Guthrie, along with a couple big shots by Pat Swilling helped CSI scratch back into the game and cruise in overtime.
Three Rivers managed just 11-of-25 from the free throw line, while CSI hit 30-of-44. The Golden Eagles out-rebounded Three Rivers 53-33. Guthrie finished with a game-high 17 rebounds.
Swilling led CSI in the scoring column with 28 points. Guthrie added 19 and Michineau posted 14. Michineau and Swilling combined for 19-22 from the free-throw line.
CSI now plays Indian Hills Friday at 10 a.m. MST. CSI fans are familiar with Indian Hills coach Barret Peery. Peery was the head coach at CSI prior to Steve Gosar taking over.
