HUTCHINSON, Kansas - The College of Southern Idaho men's basketball team will not be defending their 2011 NJCAA National Championship after falling to eighth-ranked Eastern Oklahoma 76-69 Tuesday in the opening round of the 2012 NJCAA National Tournament.
The Golden Eagles knocked down just 13 of 25 free throws compared to 29 of 38 for Eastern Oklahoma.
Rafriel Guthrie played big for CSI all day, scoring 16 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.
The Golden Eagles play Three Rivers Thursday at 9 a.m. in a loser-out game. If CSI beats Three Rivers and Indian Hills, which lost to Monroe, beats East Mississippi, then Golden Eagle head coach Steve Gosar would face former CSI head coach Barret Peery on Friday. Peery is the head coach of Indian Hills.
