CSI Softball moves into first place in SWAC

ST. GEORGE, Utah - The Golden Eagle softball team managed only 12 runs in their opening two games against Colorado Northwestern Friday but rebounded with 29 in their doubleheader Saturday to complete the sweep.
CSI beat CNCC 7-0, 5-1, 11-3 and 18-2 over the four-game SWAC series.
Tyler Wilkinson and Nikki Brailsford led the Eagles at the plate, hitting .500 with five RBI apiece. Wilkinson hit a grand slam on Friday and Brailsford hit four home runs Saturday.
All four pitchers earned a win on the series. Nellie Makings and Jessi Duncan did not give up an earned run.
The 17th-ranked Golden Eagles are tied atop the SWAC standings with No. 2 Salt Lake at 7-1. The two teams battle next weekend in Salt Lake.
