SALT LAKE CITY - The College of Southern Idaho volleyball team won in straight sets to open the Marriott-Residence Inn Volleyball Invitational with a 25-21, 25-23, 25-12 win over Central Wyoming and a 25-22, 25-11, 25-18 win over Eastern Arizona.
The Golden Eagle middles Beth Carey and Taylor Wilkinson were huge against Central Wyoming. Wilkinson ended the match with 12 kills and two blocks. Carey added 11 kills, three aces and three blocks.
Against Eastern Arizona Carey and Wilkinson were tough again. Carey finished with seven kills, three aces and two blocks. Wilkinson added five kills and six blocks.
CSI switched to a 5-1 after the first game of the match with Ashia Joseph setting. The freshman ended with 18 assists.
The Golden Eagles play USU College of Eastern Utah at 11 a.m. and No. 1 ranked Western Nebraska at 1 p.m.
